What you’ll do
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating to promote their comfort and dignity.
- Monitor and record vital signs, ensuring accurate medical documentation for effective patient care.
- Provide support to nursing staff by assisting with medical procedures and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Engage with patients to offer emotional support and companionship, fostering a nurturing atmosphere.
- Help with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices to ensure patient safety.
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
- Maintain knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to effectively communicate within the healthcare team.
Basic qualifications
- Certification as a Nurse's Aide from an accredited program.
- Strong understanding of patient care principles, including basic life support techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as hospitals or long-term care facilities.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in critical care settings or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for efficient documentation.
- Background in geriatrics, pediatrics, or hospice care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
