As the Grocery Supervisor, you are responsible for sourcing and buying for the following departments in your store:
Grab & Go
Home, Health, & Beauty
Frozen
Pantry
You are responsible for meeting your department’s margin goals and maintaining healthy and lasting relationships with our partners. You will collaborate with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and your team of Grocery Clerks to ensure thoughtful displays and service throughout the department and store. You will also collaborate with the Category Management team on sourcing, merchandising standards and guidelines, and promotions planning. You will supervise the Grocery Clerks and work as a team to ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating, and removing out-of-date products. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is a required component of this role; all Grocery Supervisors must be available to work at least one weekend day regularly.
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
Meet all financial performance metrics of the department, including sales, margin, and waste goals, as well as the percentage of store sales targets.
DATA ACCURACY
In collaboration with the Category Manager, perform regular department audits and oversee product compliance (price tag accuracy, and weights & measures regulations), reporting discrepancies as they arise to Category Management
Adhere to guidelines for processing, inventory management, and ordering to ensure daily accuracy of data
Participate in the accurate collection of your department’s EOQ inventory
VENDOR RELATIONS
MERCHANDISING
Ensure all merchandised displays are designed and set up according to our aesthetic and company guidelines and store readiness standards
Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products
Ensure products are routinely FIFO-ed and that employees are adhering to local food handling regulations as it relates to temperature control, dating, and storage per your departments
Oversee department checklists and protocols daily
Always seek to improve the customer’s experience on the floor (signage, rearranging product sets, featured products, items of the month, etc)
Monitor displays to ensure they are consistently full, faced, and fresh
Ensure compliance with the calendar of featured sets and seasonal/holiday items as provided by Category Management
BUYING
Assist the Category Management team in identifying each neighborhood's unique needs
Present new product ideas to the Category Management team on an ongoing basis
Weekly checks of slow-moving products to present to the Category Management team and to inform best merchandising on the shelf
REPORTING
Daily review of department financials
Weekly review of actual vs. goal metrics (revenue, gross margin, waste)
TEAM MANAGEMENT
Run quarterly meetings with your team to go over priorities, questions, and concerns to build a cohesive team and a great company culture
Communicate and collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, direct reports, and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner and in line with our Communication Code of Conduct
Maintaining a positive, equitable work environment for all staff
Work with Store Management to develop & revise training guides for Grocery Clerks as needed
Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
Assisting on the floor and front end as needed

Comfort with handling animal products and byproducts
Required experience
At least 1 year of supervisory and team leadership experience, or equivalent experience in another role
At least 1 year of purchasing experience
Preferred education and experience
Experience with retail, preferably grocery
Experience with food preparation, service, and safety
Experience with grocery buying preferred but not required
