Curtis Machine is looking to expand our team of qualified Trade Professionals.
Computer numeric controlled or (CNC) machines are critical in the operations of the manufacturing industry. These machines cut, shape, and finish raw materials into finished products, and they require the input and skills of CNC machinists to operate optimally.
CNC Machinist is responsible for the set up and operation of 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC Machines and Lathes, as well as checking first parts, using precision measuring and hand tools.
Key Responsibilities:

Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and references points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes.

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

Set up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.

Makes any adjustments necessary to maintain quality parts within control limits.

Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Familiar with safety standards and PPE utilized in a manufacturing setting

Must have reliable transportation

Ability to read and write English

Proficient in blueprint reading

Knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers

Ability to stay on task with minimal supervision

Problem solving skills a must

Strong communication skills and a good eye to detail

Demonstrated attention to detail and quality focus
Required Experience and Education

High School Diploma
-
Math skills: decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios, proportions; geometry and trigonometry is a plus

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars

Basic computer knowledge and skills
