Job Overview
We are looking for a dependable, customer-focused Retail Sales Associate / Cashier to join our smoke shop retail team. This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, punctual, eager to learn, and comfortable helping customers in a fast-paced retail environment.
As a Retail Sales Associate / Cashier, you will greet customers, help them find the right products, process sales accurately, maintain a clean and organized store, and follow all age-verification and compliance requirements. The right candidate should be professional, reliable, and willing to stay productive during slower periods by cleaning, restocking, organizing, and completing assigned store tasks.
Previous smoke shop, vape shop, cashier, convenience store, gas station, or retail experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner
- Assist customers with product selection and answer basic product questions
- Learn store products, promotions, and policies in order to make helpful recommendations
- Operate the POS system accurately and handle cash, card, and other transactions responsibly
- Check valid ID for age-restricted products and follow all federal, state, and local regulations
- Recommend related products when appropriate to improve the customer experience and increase sales
- Keep the sales floor, counters, displays, shelves, and glass cases clean and organized
- Restock products, sticker items, organize inventory, and help maintain strong store presentation
- Answer phone inquiries professionally and provide basic store or product availability information
- Assist with inventory counts, receiving shipments, and keeping products properly stocked
- Open and close the store when scheduled, after training is provided
- Stay productive during slower periods by completing cleaning, restocking, organizing, and assigned task lists
- Report suspicious activity, policy violations, or customer issues to management
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be comfortable checking IDs for age-restricted products
- Must have flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Opening and closing shifts may be required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable using a POS system and handling cash
- Basic math skills for transactions, discounts, and inventory counts
- Ability to stand for extended periods during a shift
- Ability to lift up to 25–30 pounds when needed
- Ability to work independently and stay productive without constant supervision
- Willingness to clean, restock, organize, and complete assigned tasks during slower periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail, cashier, customer service, convenience store, gas station, smoke shop, or vape shop experience
- Product knowledge related to vape, smoke, hookah, tobacco, glassware, or accessories
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- Experience with upselling, merchandising, inventory, or opening and closing procedures

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
