Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed, accurate written estimates using industry-standard estimating software (Audatex).
- Identify required parts, labor operations, and repair procedures, including OEM repair specifications where applicable.
- Communicate with insurance adjusters to negotiate estimates, supplements, and total loss evaluations.
- Coordinate with fleet managers, dealership representatives, and vehicle owners to explain damage findings, repair timelines, and costs.
- Order parts and verify parts pricing and availability, including specialty medium duty and commercial truck components.
- Perform supplement inspections during the repair process to capture additional damage found by technicians.
- Maintain accurate repair files, documentation, and photos for each vehicle throughout the repair cycle.
- Monitor repair progress and cycle time, ensuring the shop meets target completion dates.
- Build and maintain relationships with fleet accounts, insurance partners, and repeat commercial customers.
- Provide excellent customer service, keeping customers informed throughout the repair process.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of experience as a collision estimator, with direct experience estimating medium/heavy duty trucks preferred.
- Working knowledge of medium duty truck construction (frame rails, cab structures, box/body mounting, suspension systems).
- Proficiency with estimating software (CCC ONE, Mitchell, Audatex, or similar).
- Understanding of OEM repair procedures and collision repair industry standards (I-CAR knowledge a plus).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, parts diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Strong computer skills
Preferred:
- I-CAR certifications in collision repair or estimating.
- Experience working with commercial fleet accounts or dealership body shops.
- Background in body/frame repair, welding, or diesel/medium duty mechanical systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk around and climb on/under large vehicles during inspections.
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $41,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
