Resident Care Giver – Job Summary
The Resident Care Giver provides direct, person-centered care to residents while supporting their safety, dignity, independence, and overall well-being.
Available Shift
- Position: Part-Time
- Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM (26 hours per week)
Personal Care & Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Assist residents with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other personal care needs.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, positioning, and fall prevention.
- Provide assistance with eating, hydration, and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Follow each resident’s individual care plan, routines, needs, and preferences.
- Encourage residents to maintain as much independence as safely possible.
- Maintain residents’ dignity, privacy, and comfort while providing care.
Mental Health & Person-Centered Support
- Provide compassionate support to residents experiencing anxiety, depression, agitation, confusion, or other emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Use a calm, respectful, and person-centered approach when responding to residents.
- Recognize changes in mood, behavior, mental status, or functioning and report concerns promptly.
- Provide reassurance, redirection, and emotional support when needed.
- Respect each resident’s choices, preferences, cultural background, and individual needs.
- Encourage appropriate activities, engagement, and socialization.
Documentation & Communication
- Complete clear, accurate, and timely documentation for each shift.
- Document personal care, ADLs, behaviors, activities, and other services provided.
- Document and report changes in a resident’s physical condition, mood, behavior, or functioning.
- Promptly report incidents, injuries, falls, health concerns, or significant changes to the appropriate supervisor or clinical staff.
- Communicate important resident information with other staff to support continuity of care.
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
Health, Safety & Additional Responsibilities
- Administer medications and perform delegated healthcare tasks after required training and approval.
- Follow infection-control practices and proper use of protective equipment.
- Follow fall-prevention, emergency, and general safety procedures.
- Assist with meal preparation, food safety, and modified diets as directed.
- Complete assigned household duties and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Follow professional boundaries and all company policies and procedures.
Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, residential care homes, home healthcare, or similar care settings preferred.
- Experience assisting with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and transfers preferred.
- Experience supporting older adults and/or individuals with mental health, cognitive, behavioral, or developmental needs preferred.
- Medication administration experience is preferred.
- Ability to recognize and report changes in a resident’s condition or behavior.
- Ability to complete accurate and timely documentation.
- Strong communication skills, patience, dependability, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a care team.
- Must maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
- Must be able to follow resident care plans, instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
