Concord Regional Technical Center (CRTC) is a public regional Career and Technical Education (CTE) center serving over a dozen public and private high schools within the region. Opened in 1980, CRTC serves almost 700 students in twelve CTE programs providing students with hands-on experience in a real-world environment designed to prepare them for both college and careers.
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Part-Time Shop Manager to support the Construction Trades instructor while assisting students with hands-on projects and daily shop operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in construction-related trades, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with high school students in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) setting.
The Construction Trades Program at CRTC is an established and highly successful two-year program serving approximately 60 students. The program features professional-grade tools, equipment, and a two-story simulated house that provides students with authentic, hands-on learning experiences. We welcome qualified candidates from industry backgrounds and encourage individuals without prior teaching experience to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist the instructor in teaching the skills and knowledge required in the construction trades, including the proper, safe use, care, and storage of tools and equipment.
- Support and supervise students during hands-on projects and daily shop activities.
- Assist the instructor in maintaining a safe, organized, and productive shop environment.
- Promote a classroom and shop culture that is inclusive, supportive, and conducive to learning for students of all ability levels.
- Help maintain standards of student behavior that promote safety, professionalism, and respect.
- Organize, distribute, maintain, and inventory tools, materials, and supplies used in instructional units, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and welding.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and cleanup of shop activities and student projects.
- Reinforce safe work practices and proper use of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Support the instructor during quizzes, tests, and other assessments by monitoring students and providing assistance as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the shop, storage areas, and workspaces.
- Serve as a substitute for the instructor during short-term absences when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Construction Trades Program.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant construction industry experience required.
- General knowledge of multiple construction disciplines required; a strong background in carpentry is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with high school-aged students.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move tools, materials, and equipment commonly used in a construction shop.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices.

Pay: $27.00 per hour
