Job Overview:
Operates heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury and property damage. Heavy equipment includes, but is not limited to, front-end loaders, dump trucks, Trackmobiles, railcars, container handlers, and yard trucks. The working environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and includes working outside or in the cabs of equipment, in all weather conditions. Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while supporting safe and efficient plant operations. Interacts with maintenance personnel, contractors, technical and professional staff, and department supervisors.

Work hours will be 6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.

On occasion, may work outside these hours for training and to support operational needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-
Operates Trackmobile for the safe positioning, coupling, and uncoupling of railcars within the rail yard.
-
Secures railcar handbrakes, air brake systems, and line switches correctly, strictly following railway safety standards to prevent derailments and damage.
-
Coordinates with the Logistics Foreman to ensure the correct railcars, trailers, and containers are processed in the proper sequence.
-
Couples and uncouples trailers, connects or disconnects air and electrical lines, and operates trailer leg height for traveling.

Operates yard truck to pull, transport, load, and unload full and empty containers and ISO tanks on chassis using trailers.

Safely maneuvers container handlers to stack full and empty containers and ISO tanks on chassis in an orderly manner in the designated locations.

Operates front-end loader to scoop and load materials.
-
Drives and operates triaxle dump truck on roads; maneuvers dump truck inside warehouses.

Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planning, work orders, and parts inventory.

Participates in safety audits and site safety process activities to ensure regulations and standards are met or exceeded, including job safety analyses (JSAs).

Conducts root cause analysis (RCAs), performs preventative maintenance (PMs), and repairs equipment as needed to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Maintains equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner and implements continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and appearance.

Conducts routine safety, environmental, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance inspections; documents findings/activities; and ensures preventative maintenance programs are maintained.

Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and safety procedures, including Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC).

Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific Skills:

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Possess knowledge of properly using heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, container handlers, railcars, and locomotives.

Good understanding of properly securing and lifting heavy loads.

Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations and safety procedures, including OSHA and FRA standards.

Ability to work with limited supervision.

Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Familiarity with regulations and safety requirements in an industrial setting.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to rapidly changing operational needs.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams.

Familiarity with computerized inventory systems.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience: 3 years of experience with operating heavy equipment or railroad experience.
Certifications & Licenses: Valid driver’s license is required; CDL is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Possess close visual acuity to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts; acuity to operate machines and determine accuracy; ability to climb; walk; perform fingering such as picking; grasp objects; talk; hear effectively; and make repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers; exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally, 20lbs of force frequently and/or 10lbs constantly.
Working Conditions: Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions; temperature levels below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees for more than one hour; noise levels where one may need to shout to be heard; vibrations; hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and working in high places; and exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors.
Pay: $23.00 - $32.00/hour depending upon education, skills, and experience
Annual Bonus: 5%, based on company and personal performance
