Located on beautiful North Captiva Island, our team helps keep this unique barrier island connected through safe, reliable marine transportation. Accessible only by boat or small aircraft, North Captiva is known for its pristine beaches, boating culture, breathtaking sunsets, and relaxed coastal lifestyle.
We are seeking dependable, safety-focused, customer-oriented Skiff Drivers to join our growing transportation team. If you enjoy being on the water, working with people, and contributing to the smooth operation of island life, this is an exciting opportunity to work where others vacation.
What You'll Do
- Operate skiffs, boats, and other watercraft safely and efficiently while adhering to all safety regulations and company procedures
- Transport passengers, equipment, supplies, and cargo between designated locations in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vessel inspections to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards
- Maintain clear communication with team members, passengers, and dock personnel using radios and other communication equipment
- Assist with loading and unloading supplies, luggage, equipment, and cargo as needed
- Monitor vessel condition and report maintenance concerns promptly to ensure operational reliability
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, inspections, maintenance needs, and safety checks
- Provide friendly, professional service while ensuring a safe and enjoyable passenger experience
- Follow all maritime regulations, waterway navigation requirements, and company operating procedures
- Assist with general island transportation and operational support as needed
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience operating boats, skiffs, shuttle vehicles, commercial transportation, delivery services, or similar transportation roles preferred
- Experience operating heavy machinery, tractors, forklifts, loaders, excavators, utility equipment, or similar mechanical equipment is a plus
- Candidates with transferable experience in marine operations, construction, landscaping, hospitality, transportation, public works, or outdoor service industries are encouraged to apply
- We are willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, safety awareness, and eagerness to learn
- Valid driver's license and any certifications required for commercial watercraft operation
- Strong understanding of safety practices and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment, supplies, luggage, and cargo weighing 50+ pounds
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify and report potential vessel or equipment issues
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing operational needs
