General Maintenance Technician
Job Title: General Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Department Supervisor
FLSA Status: Hourly
General Maintenance Technicians perform a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks on building systems and equipment. This includes plumbing, electrical, HVAC, food service and beverage equipment, and basic carpentry to ensure the overall functionality and upkeep of a facility.
- Building Routine Check Ups: Regularly checking for potential issues with building systems like plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, doors, windows, and roofs.
- Minor Repairs: Fixing minor plumbing leaks, replacing light bulbs, repairing small drywall damage, adjusting door hinges, patching minor cracks, and replacing worn-out building components.
- Preventative Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks like changing air filters, lubricating machinery, and checking fire safety equipment.
- Basic Carpentry: Making simple wood repairs, replacing trim, fixing cabinet doors, and assembling furniture
- Basic Electrical Work: Replacing outlets, switches, fuses, addressing minor electrical issues, and food service equipment repair.
- Basic Plumbing: Fixing small leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing faucet parts
- Basic HVAC: Following checklists to troubleshoot common issues before escalating major repairs to specialized vendors.
- Work Order Management: Responding to maintenance requests, documenting repairs completed, and prioritizing tasks
- Material Ordering: Ordering necessary supplies and parts to complete repairs
- Reporting Issues: Identifying and reporting major repair needs that require specialized tradespeople
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance practices
- Ability to troubleshoot minor issues and identify repair needs
- Hand and power tool proficiency
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics when necessary
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various positions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Good communication skills to report issues and coordinate with other team members

Physical Demands
This position requires good multi-limb coordination, heavy lifting, walking and standing for long periods of time, reaching above the head, kneeling/squatting, and climbing ladders. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, carries objects and materials, and may perform periodic height work. The employee is regularly required to talk and listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an hourly full-time position, generally 40 hours per week with occasional required overtime. Technicians are also expected to participate in an on-call rotation following their orientation period.
Travel
Typically, business base to facility locations for same day travel.
Required Education and Experience:
· High school diploma/GED or an equivalent number of years of education
· 5+ years of related work experience preferred
