Venture Lead: $79–$86/hour
Hours: Standard business hours; flexibility required to support global collaboration and up to 40% travel.
Employment Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – Onsite four (4) days per week. Attendance at external conferences and events counts toward onsite days.
Professional Japanese language ability required. This role requires regular collaboration with Japan-based stakeholders and support for global venture investment and partnership activities.

Final job level (Venture Specialist or Venture Lead) and the applicable hourly pay range will be determined through the interview process based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The listed pay ranges are based on the San Francisco Bay Area labor market. Candidates who reside outside the Bay Area and are approved to work remotely during the contingent assignment may receive an adjusted hourly rate based on the local labor market and cost of living.
A global mobility and technology company is seeking a venture investment professional to support strategic investments, startup partnerships, and open innovation initiatives. This role works closely with global R&D teams, business units, startup founders, and VC/CVC partners to identify and advance technologies aligned with long-term business strategy.
The Venture Specialist / Venture Lead sources, evaluates, and supports execution of strategic venture investments while facilitating startup partnerships and open innovation initiatives. Professional Japanese language ability is required to collaborate effectively with Japan-based stakeholders and support cross-border investment activities. Position level will be determined based on experience and interview assessment.

Source investment opportunities through VC/CVC networks, founder relationships, accelerators, and venture research platforms.

Identify, evaluate, and engage startups aligned with strategic technology priorities.

Conduct investment diligence, including market analysis, technology assessment, competitive landscape, business model evaluation, financial outlook, and management team assessment.

Prepare investment recommendations and support internal investment approval processes.

Monitor emerging technologies and venture investment trends.

Support startup collaborations, pilot programs, proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives, and strategic partnerships.

Coordinate communication, documentation, reporting, and follow-up between internal stakeholders and startup partners.

Support strategic collaboration agreements and ecosystem partnerships.

Manage relationships with accelerator partners and participate in ecosystem events when assigned.

May serve as a board observer for portfolio companies, depending on assignment.

Build and maintain relationships with VC/CVC firms, founders, accelerators, and innovation partners.

Represent the organization at industry conferences, startup events, and venture ecosystem activities.

Strengthen organizational visibility within the startup and venture investment community.

Professional Japanese and English language ability required.

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

2–3+ years of venture capital (VC) or corporate venture capital (CVC) experience.

Experience sourcing, evaluating, and supporting early-stage venture investments.

Familiarity with venture diligence processes, investment structures, and startup evaluation.

Strong interest in emerging technologies, including deep technology, mobility, robotics, AI, sustainability, or related industries.

Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally (up to 40%).

Established network within the VC/CVC and startup ecosystem, particularly on the U.S. West Coast.

Experience developing investment theses and advancing investment opportunities.

Experience supporting portfolio companies, strategic partnerships, accelerator programs, or open innovation initiatives.

Experience using PitchBook, Crunchbase, or similar venture intelligence platforms.

Strong analytical, relationship-building, and cross-cultural communication skills.
