The role
We're looking for an experienced Controller to join our growing team. You'll serve as the financial backbone for our clients — ensuring the integrity of their accounting operations while partnering closely with our FP&A and advisory teams to deliver a truly integrated financial leadership experience.
What you'll do
- Own the full accounting cycle — general ledger, month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements across client engagements
- Implement AI and automation tools and processes
- Revenue Recognition Expertise is a must
- Gov Con Experience a plus
- Manage and review AP, AR, payroll, and cash management processes
- Develop, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard client assets
- Oversee and coordinate external audits, reviews, and tax preparation with third-party CPA firms
- Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting packages to client leadership and stakeholders
- Partner with our FP&A team to bridge actuals with forecasts and surface meaningful variances
- Implement and optimize accounting systems and tools — including AI-assisted workflows — to improve close efficiency and data accuracy
- Coach and mentor junior accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Support clients through fundraising, due diligence, and strategic finance initiatives as needed
What you bring
- A coaching mindset: you enjoy developing others and building strong processes, not just closing the books
- the willingness to learn and implement AI and automations
- The ability to build trusted relationships — technical accuracy alone is not financial leadership
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role; client-facing or advisory experience a strong plus
- Deep expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Strong experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with reporting tools like Fathom HQ, Power BI, or similar a plus
- Outstanding communication skills — you can translate complex accounting concepts for any audience
- CMA required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Deep curiosity and a drive to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving financial landscape
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
