Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating physiological responses to treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and catheter care, following strict protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Assist with complex procedures such as wound suturing, tube feeding, catheterization, and sterile processing tasks with precision and aseptic technique.
- Manage emergency situations effectively by airway management, ventilator support, and acute pain management strategies while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care activities and behavioral health support.
- Support discharge planning and case management efforts to facilitate smooth transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings or home & community care environments.
Requirements
- Valid LPN license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards.
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding is advantageous.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy, venipuncture, and medication administration accurately; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
