Position Summary
The OCC Kids Director exists to lead the children’s ministry of One Community Church Greenville by creating a safe, engaging, and gospel-centered environment where children are encouraged to know, love, and follow Jesus. This leader will recruit, equip, and shepherd volunteers while partnering with parents to disciple the next generation. The OCC Kids Director will help build healthy systems, develop leaders, and ensure excellence in every aspect of the ministry.

As a church plant, we are still building systems, refining processes, and establishing ministry rhythms. This position is ideal for someone who is flexible, solutions-oriented, and excited to help build a healthy ministry from the ground up.

Experience & Skills
- Previous experience serving in or leading a children's ministry is preferred.
- Ability to teach biblical truth in engaging, age-appropriate, and gospel-centered ways.
- Strong planning, organizational, and event coordination skills.
- Proficient with Planning Center, Google Workspace, email communication, and other church management tools.
- Ability to create safe, welcoming, engaging, and well-organized ministry environments.
- Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrates sound judgment when handling confidential information and sensitive situations.
Ministry ResponsibilitiesSpiritual Leadership
- Champion the vision, mission, and values of One Community Church within OCC Kids.
- Lead and cultivate a gospel-centered culture where children, volunteers, and families are growing as disciples of Jesus.
- Pray regularly for the children, families, volunteers, and ministry.
Volunteer Leadership & Development
- Lead all OCC Kids Leadership Team meetings.
- Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and shepherd OCC Kids volunteers.
- Maintain and regularly update the OCC Kids Volunteer Training Guide, including serving expectations, safety procedures, and ministry best practices.
- Coordinate volunteer applications, onboarding paperwork, and background checks with the church administrator.
- Provide ongoing encouragement, coaching, appreciation, and care for volunteer teams.
Scheduling & Administration
- Create and maintain volunteer schedules in Planning Center at least one month in advance.
- Monitor scheduling notifications and proactively respond to declines, cancellations, and scheduling needs.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and contact information.
- Manage volunteer communication through Planning Center, email, and other approved platforms.
- Send weekly volunteer communication, including schedules, lesson materials, updates, and ministry reminders.
Curriculum & Sunday Preparation
- Select biblically sound, gospel-centered curriculum aligned with the vision of One Community Church.
- Prepare and distribute Preschool and Elementary lessons in advance.
- Ensure all teaching materials, classroom supplies, and curriculum resources are organized and ready before each Sunday.
- Order and organize ministry supplies as needed.
Sunday Ministry Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and oversight of OCC Kids each Sunday.
- Ensure a safe, welcoming, organized, and engaging environment for every child and family.
- Oversee the Check-In and Check-Out experience.
- Supervise Team Leads and volunteers throughout the morning.
- Ensure all child protection policies and safety procedures are consistently followed.
- Manage classroom rosters, parent communication, room assignments, and bathroom procedures.
- Address ministry needs and provide leadership throughout the Sunday experience.
Child Safety & Family Care
- Respond to behavioral or disciplinary situations with wisdom, grace, and consistency.
- Complete Incident Reports as needed and communicate with parents according to OCC policies.
- Foster meaningful relationships with families beyond Sunday mornings through intentional care and communication.
- Help create a culture where every child is known, safe, loved, and valued.
Ministry Excellence
- Continually evaluate and improve the effectiveness of OCC Kids.
- Maintain clean, organized, and inviting children's ministry environments.
- Partner with church staff and ministry leaders to support church-wide initiatives and special events.
- Perform other ministry-related responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
