The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist, Plumbing, Journey 2/Lead for the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC), located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Foreman, primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Perform journeyman level plumbing work to include inspection, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of all new and existing plumbing distribution/collection systems at GCCC in accordance with Uniform Plumbing Code and local plumbing code amendments.

Perform plumbing maintenance, repairs and installations of traps, interceptors, sinks, toilets, faucets and mixing valves.

Properly select and perform work at a professional level with steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, cast iron pipe and composite piping materials as appropriate for the medium to be contained.

Properly install, maintain and repair boilers, burners and their related components.

Lead an inmate work crew to include assigning work, overseeing the proper use of equipment and tools, and ensuring all equipment/tools are returned and inspected for breakage or damage.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in an institutional setting with inmates daily.
