According to established policies and procedures, operates ultrasound diagnostic equipment to produce pictures for measurement of dimensions of heart structures. In doing so, obtains pertinent patient information, explains purpose and duration of testing to patients, and operates ultrasound equipment. Reviews results and prepares reports for physician review.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Confers with patients and/or family members in order to gather pertinent patient information including history of heart problems, current medication and so forth, and documents same in patient charts.

Required:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Echocardiography or Allied Health program that provides clinical and didactic training in the field of Echocardiography.
- Registered or Registry Eligible Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Registry eligible must become registered within six months of hire.
- BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
Preferred:
- Six months of Echocardiography (including Stress Echoes, TEE, and TTE procedures) work experience.
