POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders by providing expertise in employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, leave administration, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, safety compliance, HR compliance, and organizational policy interpretation. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while supporting a positive, productive, and inclusive workplace culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, misconduct, attendance concerns, and other employee relations matters, documenting findings and recommending appropriate actions.
- Provides employee relations guidance and coaching to managers and employees regarding performance management, corrective action, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and employment-related concerns.
- Administers leave of absence programs, including FMLA, state and local leave laws, military leave, personal leave, and other protected leaves, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
- Manages the ADA interactive process and reasonable accommodation program, collaborating with employees, managers, and medical providers to identify and implement effective workplace accommodations.
- Coordinates workers’ compensation claims and serve as the liaison among injured employees, managers, medical providers, third-party administrators, nurse triage vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Administers return-to-work and transitional duty programs, including monitoring work restrictions, developing accommodation plans, preparing transitional duty agreements, and facilitating successful employee reintegration.
- Maintains OSHA injury and illness records and safety-related reporting requirements, including preparing annual OSHA logs, supporting claim reviews, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Ensures employment law and HR compliance, including labor law posting requirements, policy administration, audits, recordkeeping, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Responds to employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies, leave administration, accommodations, workers’ compensation, employee relations matters, and other human resources services.
- Partners with business leaders and the Human Resources team to support workforce planning initiatives, including headcount forecasting, organizational structure reviews, talent movement planning, succession planning discussions, and workforce analytics reporting.
- Assists with other HR projects and assignments as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Training and Experience.)
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of Human Resources experience with a focus on employee relations.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations.
- Experience administering FMLA, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation programs.
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (UKG preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations a plus.
