Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Writing/English Language Arts Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. In this role, you will inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while fostering a love for literature and effective communication. You will design engaging lessons, utilize innovative educational technology, and support students’ diverse learning styles to help them excel academically and socially.
Duties
- Develop comprehensive curriculum plans aligned with educational standards, including AP (Advanced Placement) programs and literacy education strategies
- Deliver engaging lessons on English language arts, incorporating creative writing, journalism, and social sciences content
- Implement IT-integrated lessons to enhance student learning experiences using current educational technology tools
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, research projects, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues on lesson planning, instructional design, and curriculum development to ensure consistency across grade levels
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, behavior, and upcoming assessments or projects
Qualifications
- Proven experience teaching English language arts at the high school or middle school level, with a strong understanding of classroom management techniques
- Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and developmental needs of teenagers
- Expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies including standardized testing preparation
- Proficiency in educational technology integration and familiarity with library services for research support
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents
- Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading techniques, copy editing, and journalistic writing practices
- Experience working with diverse student populations in private school settings preferred
- Additional skills in linguistics, learning sciences, higher education teaching practices, and behavior management are highly desirable
