Virtue Solar is a locally owned solar company serving Central Virginia since 2015, and we're hiring a part-time service technician to help keep our installed systems running right.
No experience? That's fine. We'll teach you the solar side. What we can't teach is the things this job actually requires:
You have to be genuinely comfortable on a roof. Not "I think I'd be okay" — actually comfortable. A big part of this work happens two stories up on all kinds of roof pitches and surfaces. If heights aren't your thing, this isn't the role for you, and that's okay.
You have to show up, and show up on time. This one's non-negotiable. We're a small team and people are counting on you to be where you said you'd be, when you said you'd be there.
You have to be self-motivated and eager to learn. A lot of service work is showing up, sizing up the problem, and figuring it out without someone standing over your shoulder. If you like solving things with your hands and take pride in doing a job right, you'll fit in here.
What you'd be doing:
- Troubleshooting and repairing residential and commercial solar systems
- Panel, inverter, and wiring service work
- Roof-mounted equipment inspection and maintenance
- Learning the trade from an experienced team
The basics:
- Your own reliable transportation (this is a must)
- Valid driver's license
- Able to lift and carry equipment and handle physical, outdoor work
About the hours: This is a part-time position with no guaranteed hours — but for the right person, it can absolutely grow. If you show up, work hard, and prove you're reliable, there's real room here to build it into something bigger.
Experienced techs and total beginners are both welcome to apply — what matters most is comfort on the roof, dependability, a strong work ethic, and the drive to learn.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
