We are hiring a Project Engineer who will also have responsibilities in estimating to join our team in Syracuse. You will prepare, coordinate, and deliver project submittals while ensuring compliance with contract specifications and maintaining quality standards. As a central point of communication between project teams, vendors, and clients, you will help with project completion and client satisfaction.
You will also assist in estimating to provide accurate commercial roofing repair estimates, technical scopes, and field-based problem-solving for exterior building envelope systems. This is a unique opportunity to use your experience in submittals while continuing to learn and develop in estimating.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the submittals process for roofing projects, including document control, assist with change orders, RFI, submittal tracking, contract administration, punch-list management, project close out documents, and assist in permit process.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify submittal requirements and deadlines.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, Vendors, and Manufacturers to compile accurate and complete submittal packages.
- Ensure all submittals meet client requirements, industry standards, and internal quality expectations.
- Track submittal status, approvals, and revisions to ensure timely project progression.
- · Prepare timely and accurate estimates for roofing, service, and repair work
- Develop proposals and quotes that clearly outline scope, pricing, and recommended solutions.
- Collaborate with service managers, technicians, and sales reps to ensure feasibility and alignment of scopes.
- Maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships to support cost accuracy and availability.
Requirements:
- 2+ years administrative experience working for construction company.
- 1+ years of estimating experience in construction.
- Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals a plus.
- Understanding of building façade systems and how to diagnose and scope effective repairs.
- Experience using sophisticated Project Management, preferred.
- Familiar with standard deliverables and work process on projects.
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem owner/solver.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specs, and safety protocols.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and takeoff/markup tools (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff).
