Acropolis Mediterranean Grill is a family-owned Greek and Mediterranean restaurant that has served Chattanooga for over 30 years. We're a true scratch kitchen — sauces, dressings, doughs, and stocks made in-house daily — spanning a menu of seafood, Greek classics, and Mediterranean fare. We're known as a neighborhood institution built on family, hospitality, and food made the right way. We're growing, and we're looking for a Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager who wants to grow with us.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who wants real ownership in the kitchen — not just a title. You'll work directly alongside our ownership team to run daily operations, develop staff, and help maintain the quality and consistency that's kept our doors open for three decades. For the right person, this role offers a clear path to increased responsibility as the business expands.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and timing across all stations
- Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff; help build a strong, reliable team culture
- Manage scratch food production — sauces, stocks, marinades, and prep — to our standards
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to control food cost
- Enforce food safety and sanitation standards; maintain a clean, organized, health-code-compliant kitchen
- Support menu development and execution, including specials and seasonal items
- Help manage labor scheduling and kitchen budgets alongside ownership
- Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance/repairs
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience as a sous chef, kitchen manager, or similar leadership role in a full-service, scratch-cooking kitchen
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations: food cost, inventory, scheduling, and health/safety standards
- Genuine passion for scratch cooking; Mediterranean or Greek culinary experience is a big plus, but not required
- A leader who can train and motivate a team, not just give orders
- Calm, organized, and solutions-oriented during high-volume service
- Reliable, hands-on, and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
