Position Overview
The Marketing Specialist leads the organization's marketing, digital communications, graphic design, and grant-writing efforts. This role combines creative content development with hands-on execution across print, digital, and social channels, and includes researching and securing grant funding to support organizational programs.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Content Strategy
· Develop marketing and communication materials, including press releases, brochures, mailings, fundraising materials, presentations, and web content that support organizational initiatives
· Coordinate with media outlets, advertising agencies, printers, and internal departments to execute marketing and communication projects
· Partner with management to plan and align marketing initiatives across social media, website, email, print, and community outreach channels
· Maintain editorial, social media, and advertising calendars
Digital & Social Media Communications
· Keep website content and event information current for local service programs
· Create and manage social media content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other approved platforms
· Monitor engagement metrics and identify opportunities to grow audience reach and community interaction
· Produce e-blasts, newsletters, and event promotions
· Ensure brand consistency and messaging alignment across all digital platforms
Graphic Design & Multimedia
· Design flyers, brochures, social graphics, presentations, signage, and other promotional materials
· Capture, edit, and organize photos and video content from programs, activities, and events
· Develop storytelling content that highlights veterans, active military, and community impact
· Support marketing campaigns and materials directed by leadership
Grant Writing & Fundraising Support
· Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational funding needs
· Manage the process of applying for and securing annual grant funding
· Write grant applications and narratives in collaboration with other departments
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, or a related field
· Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
· Experience with social media platforms, content creation, and digital communication tools
· Graphic design proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
· Photography and videography skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
