Job Description: General Manager (Hotel & Restaurant) Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) serves as the primary leader for the Baymont by Wyndham Henderson and the integrated Sundowners Bar & Grill. This "dual-role" requires a high-energy leader capable of balancing the operational standards of a global hotel brand (Wyndham) with the fast-paced, community-focused environment of a full-service restaurant and bar. You will be responsible for driving revenue, maintaining high guest satisfaction scores, and ensuring a seamless experience between lodging and dining.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hotel Operations & Brand Excellence
- Oversee all hotel departments: Front Office, Housekeeping, and Maintenance.
- Ensure full compliance with Wyndham’s "Count on Me" service standards and brand inspections.
- Manage the property's P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and labor cost control.
- Lead the "hometown hospitality" culture synonymous with the Baymont brand.
2. Restaurant & Bar Management (Sundowners)
- Directly oversee the operations of Sundowners Bar & Grill, including kitchen (BOH) and service (FOH).
- Maintain food quality standards, health department compliance, and inventory management.
- Develop and execute promotions (e.g., Happy Hour, Steak Night) to drive both local and guest traffic.
- Manage liquor licensing requirements and ensure responsible alcohol service.
3. Sales & Community Engagement
- Act as the "face of the property" within the Henderson community.
- Identify and court local corporate accounts and group bookings (youth sports, weddings, Rusk County Expo Center events).
- Maximize the use of the on-site meeting space to generate additional revenue.
4. Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and retain a cross-functional team capable of working in both hospitality and food service.
- Foster a positive work environment with a focus on accountability and "Count on Me" values.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years of Hotel Management experience (required). Experience in Full-Service F&B or Restaurant Management (highly preferred).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business, or equivalent years of experience.
- Certification: TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) and Food Handler/Manager certifications required (or obtainable within 30 days).
- Skills: Proficiency with Property Management Systems (PMS), POS systems, and Microsoft Office. Strong financial acumen.
Working Conditions
- This is a hands-on role in a 24/7 environment. The GM must be available for emergencies and to support the team during peak restaurant hours (evenings/weekends).
