PAY SCALE: $45,000 - $72,000 /year, based on experience

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Write and edit concise AP style content for digital and print materials.

Develop stories that highlight students, employees, programs, services, accomplishments and organizational priorities.

Maintain websites and social media channels with timely, accurate content.

Take photographs and support the development of newsletters, publications and visual content.

Assist with media relations, crisis communication and time-sensitive messaging.

Coordinate projects such as publications, campaigns and special events.

Collaborate with graphic designers, printers, videographers and other communications professionals.

Protect confidentiality and use discretion.

Perform other duties appropriate to the position as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
-
Qualified candidates must possess or meet the requirements for the civil service title of information specialist or communications assistant. A bachelor's degree and related experience are preferred.

Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud and social media platforms, including Meta Business Suite, is preferred.

Experience in a school district, BOCES, educational organization, journalism, public relations or mission-driven public service setting is helpful.
Considerations

This is an in-person, full-time, 12-month position.

Work includes visits to school buildings, programs, events and district locations. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle are required.

Some evening or weekend work may be required based on events, media needs or urgent communication situations.
