Watford City Veterinary Center is looking for an energetic, compassionate, and dependable Pet Groomer to join our team. Every day is different. One hour you may be giving a shaggy doodle a spa day, and the next you're helping a nervous puppy have a positive first grooming experience. If you enjoy making tails wag and owners smile, this could be the perfect job for you.
What You'll Do
As our groomer, you'll provide exceptional grooming services while helping monitor the overall health and well-being of every pet in your care.
Responsibilities include:
- Bathe, brush, dry, and de-shed dogs and other companion animals.
- Remove mats and tangles while keeping pets comfortable and safe.
- Perform breed-standard or owner-requested haircuts and styling.
- Trim and grind nails while providing paw care.
- Clean ears and monitor for signs of infection or irritation.
- Brush teeth and observe for dental concerns.
- Check pets for skin conditions, parasites, wounds, lumps, or other health concerns and communicate findings to owners and our veterinary team.
- Educate pet owners on coat maintenance, skin health, and home grooming techniques.
- Deliver outstanding customer service from check-in through pickup.
- Keep grooming equipment clean, disinfected, and well maintained.
- Maintain a clean, organized grooming salon and work area.
- Monitor grooming supplies, rotate inventory, check expiration dates, and assist with ordering products when needed.
- Assist with general housekeeping and other duties assigned by management or the attending veterinarians.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys both pets and people.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience grooming dogs of various breeds and coat types (professional experience preferred but we are willing to train the right person).
- Excellent animal handling skills and the ability to safely work with pets of varying sizes and temperaments.
- Patience, kindness, and a calm approach with anxious or nervous animals.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Knowledge of grooming tools, coat types, skin care, and breed-specific styles.
- Great communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and safely handle animals throughout the day.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
