Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Estimator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, materials, and timeframes for sheet metal fabrication projects. Your expertise will help ensure efficient project planning, cost control, and quality standards are met. Duties
- Review and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Calculate material quantities and costs using shop math and measurement tools to prepare accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop feasible fabrication plans that meet quality standards.
- Select appropriate tooling, machinery settings, and fabrication techniques such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, stamping presses, and forming machines.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source materials like sheet metal, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals including labor hours, machine operation times, and safety considerations for each project.
- Ensure all estimates comply with safety standards in production and adhere to safety protocol guidelines throughout the process.
Skills
- Proficiency in interpreting mechanical blueprints and technical drawings with a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience operating or setting up CNC laser cutting machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, plasma cutters, and press brake machines.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, forming machines, stamping presses, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and other metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to use precision measurement instruments for quality inspection and measurement accuracy in machining.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with shop math skills for accurate estimation and problem-solving in manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with safety standards related to machine operation, sheet metal fabrication, and machining tools.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members on tooling setup, machine operation, assembly procedures, and quality control measures.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
