Akron General’s 4100 Cardiac Telemetry/Renal Unit cares for patients with conditions such as CHF, ESRD, cardiac arrythmia, acute coronary syndrome and multiple other comorbidities, and performs peritoneal dialysis. This unit gets many ICU transfers and requires caregivers who are seeking to work with complex cardiac patients. As a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you are responsible for performing various patient care assistance tasks alongside a supportive RN. In this role, you will exemplify the Cleveland Clinic Values and Guest Service standards, ensuring patients receive the best, top-quality support they need to thrive. A caregiver in this position works night s from 11 :00PM – 7:30AM, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year .
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare units, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer or emergencies.
Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.
Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight and height.
Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction.
Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/ utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
