Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder with experience welding thin-gauge aluminum components in a precision manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be capable of producing clean, cosmetically appealing welds while maintaining tight tolerances and high quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to work from blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision TIG welding on thin-gauge aluminum materials
- Weld aluminum sheet, tubing, and fabricated assemblies to specification
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
- Set up and operate TIG welding equipment for aluminum applications
- Maintain weld quality standards including appearance, penetration, and distortion control
- Grind, fit, prep, and finish fabricated components as required
- Inspect completed welds for dimensional accuracy and cosmetic quality
- Work closely with fabrication and assembly teams to meet production schedules
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years TIG welding experience, preferably with thin-gauge aluminum
- Ability to weld material as thin as 0.080"–0.125" aluminum without burn-through or excessive distortion
- Experience with AC TIG welding processes
- Strong blueprint reading and measuring skills
- Familiarity with fabrication tools including grinders, saws, and fixturing equipment
- Ability to pass a practical weld test
- High attention to detail and workmanship quality
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cosmetic or aerospace-quality aluminum welding
- Fabrication and fitting experience
- Experience with pulse TIG welding
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S practices
Work Environment
- Manufacturing / fabrication shop environment
- Use of welding PPE and safety equipment required
- Occasional overtime may be necessary based on production demand
