Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident in Counseling to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health counseling and a passion for helping individuals and families navigate their challenges. This role involves providing therapeutic support, conducting assessments, and developing treatment plans tailored to the needs of clients. You will work closely with diverse populations, including children, families, and individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring that they receive comprehensive care in a community settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address mental health issues.
- Perform patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Utilize various therapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing.
- Provide crisis intervention and management for clients in distress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex needs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage in case management activities to support clients’ access to resources and services.
- Implement behavioral therapy techniques, including applied behavior analysis for clients with autism or developmental disabilities.
Skills
- Proficient in psychotherapy techniques including individual/group counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral health strategies.
- Experience working with EMR systems for medical documentation and patient records management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and clinical research methodologies.
- Ability to conduct intake assessments effectively while maintaining a compassionate approach towards clients.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles relevant to mental health treatment.
- Experience in home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
