Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Manage the organization’s general ledger accounting processes, including month-end and year-end close procedures, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct detailed cost accounting analysis to monitor departmental budgets, project costs, and resource allocation for optimal financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations and other governmental accounting standards pertinent to non-profit organizations.
- Oversee treasury management activities including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Facilitate internal audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure transparency and adherence to all financial regulations.
- Lead efforts in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support organizational growth and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain rigorous internal controls over double entry bookkeeping processes, account reconciliation procedures, and account analysis activities to safeguard assets.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate or public accounting within a healthcare or non-profit setting is essential; familiarity with governmental accounting standards is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing accounting teams, overseeing complex financial systems, and implementing regulatory compliance measures such as SOX audits.
- Strong background in financial concepts including GAAP, IFRS, cost accounting analysis, and technical accounting practices related to healthcare finance.
- Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent platforms; advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting are required.
- Experience in financial report writing, balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, and treasury functions is critical.
- Ability to interpret financial data accurately for strategic decision-making through forecasting models and financial analysis tools.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail; capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
