Optometric Technician / Receptionist

Visionary Eyeworks is looking for a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Optometric Technician / Receptionist to join our team in West Nashville.
This is a full-time position that combines patient care, front-desk responsibilities, and clinical support. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing excellent customer service, and can stay organized while juggling a variety of responsibilities throughout the day.
Optical experience is a plus, but we are happy to train the right person. What matters most to us is finding someone who is personable, dependable, willing to learn, and genuinely enjoys helping patients.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome patients with a warm, friendly attitude and make them feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door
- Check patients in and out and help keep the day running smoothly and efficiently
- Assist with pre-testing and other clinical procedures
- Learn to operate and properly maintain ophthalmic equipment
- Assist patients with frame selection and eyewear styling based on their individual needs, style, and preferences
- Help maintain and organize optical inventory
- Verify insurance benefits and assist patients with billing or insurance questions
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide helpful, professional customer service
- Assist with contact lens ordering, insertion and removal training (I&R), and contact lens trials
- Maintain accurate patient records and protect patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Work closely with the doctors and optical team to provide an exceptional patient experience
- Assist with other office and administrative responsibilities as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Previous optical experience is preferred, but not required
- A friendly, positive attitude and a genuine interest in helping people
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm in a busy office environment
- Comfortable learning new technology, equipment, and office systems
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems is a plus
- Healthcare, optical, or reception experience is helpful
- A dependable team player who is willing to jump in wherever needed
- Must be committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy
