Job Overview
Raposa is opening a coffee shop in Wynwood, and we're looking for a passionate, dependable Barista to join our team. This is a full-time, weekday position (Monday–Friday) paying $17–20/hour plus tips. Specific hours will be finalized before your start date.
You'll craft high-quality espresso beverages and provide exceptional service in a specialty coffee setting. As a new shop, we expect steady traffic with morning and lunch peaks — we need someone who can work independently during quieter stretches and stay composed when it gets busy. Beyond drinks, you'll play a key role in setting the tone of the space: welcoming, consistent, and well run.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve espresso beverages, our canned Nitro Cold Brew coffees and teas, matcha, and hot teas. The menu is intentionally minimal and will be reviewed with you in full before opening.
- Handle daily opening setup and end-of-day closing, including equipment, workstations, and café seating areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café throughout the day.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
- Build rapport with regulars — you'll see many of the same faces day to day.
- Communicate inventory needs and equipment issues to Raposa's Head of Operations.
- Collaborate with the Raposa team on occasional events hosted in the space.
Experience
- Previous barista experience, preferably in a specialty coffee setting, with some latte art skill.
- Familiarity with a 1-group machine and grinder. Our Head of Operations will help dial in espresso prior to opening and whenever we rotate to a new roast.
- Strong customer service skills and comfort engaging with a diverse clientele.
- Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours.
- Reliability and self-direction — comfortable working solo, keeping busy during slower periods, and staying efficient when a rush comes through.
- Experience with food preparation and serving practices is a plus.
Compensation & Schedule
- $17–20/hour, depending on experience, plus tips
- Full-time, Monday through Friday — no nights or weekends
