We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Engineer to join our property operations team and support the daily operation and maintenance of a 17-story commercial office building and two additional sister properties.
This is a hands-on engineering position for a dependable professional who understands commercial building systems, enjoys troubleshooting mechanical issues, and takes pride in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-operated property.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with HVAC, building automation systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance and is comfortable working directly with tenants, vendors, and contractors.
What You'll Do
- Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial HVAC systems and building automation systems (BAS).
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, plumbing, and electrical issues.
- Respond to tenant service requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, equipment, and building systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed work.
- Perform general building repairs, including drywall, painting, ceiling tiles, carpentry, lighting, and other minor repairs as needed.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors and monitor work for quality and compliance.
- Assist with life-safety systems and ensure building operations remain compliant with applicable safety requirements and codes.
- Support maintenance operations at two additional commercial properties as needed.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of commercial building engineering or facilities maintenance experience.
- Strong HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
- Experience working with commercial building systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred.
- CMMS experience preferred.
- EPA Universal Certification preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance needs.
- Ability to work safely in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other building areas.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb ladders.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between assigned properties.
- Ability and willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
