Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely following all state healthcare regulations and HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, reporting findings promptly to nursing staff
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, mobility support, and hygiene assistance in accordance with individual care plans
- Maintain detailed medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date
- Support residents with specialized needs including tube feeding, catheter care, memory care, and dementia or Alzheimer’s disease management
- Follow proper manual handling procedures for heavy lifting and assist with mobility to promote safety for both residents and staff
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans and ensure resident comfort
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by the State Board of Nursing or equivalent licensing authority
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is highly desirable
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards including HIPAA compliance
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in hospice care, dementia care, or Alzheimer’s care is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks efficiently while maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality
