at school and return home safely and on time. We’re currently seeking reliable, safety-conscious
individuals to join our team as a Substitute School Bus Driver.
Position Summary:
The Substitute School Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students to and from school and
related activities in a safe and timely manner, while maintaining discipline and ensuring
compliance with all transportation laws and district policies. This position requires the substitute
bus driver to be available to drive both morning and afternoon routes Monday through Friday.
This is a regular shift and not an on - call position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of students.
- Follow all traffic laws and school transportation policies.
- Report any incidents, disciplinary issues, or mechanical concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Attend required training and safety meetings.
Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S)
endorsements (or willingness to obtain).
- Must complete Bus Driver Theory Training.
- Must complete Kalamzoo RESA 3 day in person training.
- Clean driving record and satisfactory background check.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and DOT physical.
- Prior experience driving a bus or working with children is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, reliability, and a commitment to student safety.
- Paid training is available to non - credentialed persons interested in driving.
- Must have good attendance.
