As a Cureus Editorial Operations Supervisor, you'll help scale the systems and processes behind one of the largest Open Access medical journals in the world. This role is heavily focused on administrative and operational tasks, ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the team. Working closely with the Director of Publishing and a fellow Ed. Ops Supervisor, you'll partner with colleagues across editorial, support, and marketing to keep operations running smoothly and become an expert on the Cureus platform — streamlining workflows as we build for what's next.
This is an ideal entry point into the publishing industry, offering hands-on immersion in the editorial systems that power a leading Open Access journal.
What you'll do:
- Manage the monthly editor invoicing process
- Partner with editorial colleagues to scale and improve editorial operations
- Support the Director of Publishing and fellow Ed. Ops Supervisor on cross-functional initiatives
- Evaluate editor performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
- Own hiring, onboarding for contract and volunteer editors
- Facilitate and oversee editor training
- Review and edit marketing copy including blog posts and email campaigns
- Support guest editor promotional efforts
- Develop deep expertise in Cureus's publishing process to support internal teams and external customers
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Publishing, English, Communications or a related field
- 2+ years of professional experience in publishing or operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, self-directed approach — comfortable taking initiative and working independently
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment with shifting priorities and input from multiple stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Comfort learning and adapting to new tools and technologies
- Familiarity with academic publishing is a plus
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
