Job Summary
The Maritime Compliance Officer serves in a hybrid security role, providing both land-based access control and waterborne security operations as part of the Reserve Maritime Security Response Team supporting United States Government missions and supporting NAVSEA 009-72.
Hybrid position on land, officers are responsible for staffing Entry Control Points (ECPs), conducting access control, screening personnel and vehicles, enforcing security protocols, and maintaining accountability within a high-security maritime environment. When assigned on the water, officers support vessel protection operations, conducting patrols and maintaining a visible security presence to safeguard critical assets while vessels are at berth. This position requires the ability to transition seamlessly between ECP operations and maritime patrol duties, maintaining professionalism, situational awareness, and strict adherence to established security standards at all times.The role operates in a 24/7 environment and demands flexibility, reliability, and a strong commitment to mission success in support of national security objectives.
The duties are performed in Swan Island while the vessel is at berth. Hours of operation are 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. Successful Candidates MUST HAVE an ACTIVE/CURRENT Oregon Unarmed and Armed/unarmed Security Professional License and boaters education card. As this is a position working with the U.S. Government you must also be a U.S. Citizen and have a Non-Expired U.S. Passport or U.S. Birth Certificate to be considered for this position. This position includes a comprehensive background screening and pre-employment drug test. Knowledge and demonstration of firearms safety will be evaluated during interview process.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Providing Access Control Points to several U.S. Military assets while at berth.
- Must be able to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Be part of a team
- Maintain safety at the ECP (entry control point), this position may require you to be in the elements for long periods at times and there a foot patrols that must be completed.
- Attend Pacific River Coxswain Academy
- Must be able to communicate well via phone, radio, and professional written reports.
- Must monitor Slack on duty for crew communications.
- Monitor Access control computer screens for People coming and going from vessels and gates.
- Must communicate and work well with others as you will be working alongside several other security officers and shipyard personnel that are in close proximity throughout the day.
- This is a customer service attitude environment so we will need the security personnel to put their best foot forward to be courteous and pleasant when interacting with visitors and other shipyard staff.
- Must be able to adhere to OPSEC once hired.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years experience as an OR DPSST Licensed Armed/Unarmed Security Officer.
- Must have boaters education card
- Must have firearm and level 3 retention holster
- Must have Rifle (
- Ability to utilize various on-duty such as TrackTik, Slack and PayCor
- We see 50-100 persons a day from all walks of life so you must be personable, and able to work well with others.
- Attention to detail is a must.
