SPECTRA is recruiting a creative and energetic Certified Occuational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide ABA services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related Neurodevelopmental Disorders in a licensed facility school setting. The position works directly and indirectly with students ages 6-21 to decrease maladaptive behavior and increase coping skills. The COTA is responsible for providing occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist as outlined in the students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The COTA will assist with assessment, intervention and treatment as well as activities to enhance motor planning, sensory processing, self-regulation, adaptive daily living skills, assistive technology and adaptive equipment. This position works collaboratively with other members of our school clinical team (OT, BCBA, SLP, Social Worker) and Special Education teachers to meet each student's individual needs. All services are provided as indicated in a student's IEP. We do not bill insurance or require ongoing authorizations for services.
Primary Job Responsibilities & Overview (not limited to the following):
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and treatment plans under the supervision of Occupational Therapist.
- Provide individual and small-group therapy sessions in classroom, therapy, community, and natural learning environments.
- Assist students with skill development including but not limited to: fine motor skills, handwriting and visual-motor integration, sensory processing and self-regulation, activities of daily living (ADLs), self-help and adaptive skills, assistive technology utilization and functional participation in academic and vocational tasks
- Promote student participation and inclusion in classroom, vocational, recreational, and community-based activities.
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
- Work collaboratively with OT and other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance and strengths and needs through evaluation, educational/clinical program planning, and service delivery.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrates finding with other disciplines, offers recommendations and assists in the development of IEP/Treatment Plan goals related to occupational performance.
- Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational/clinical personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student’s occupational performance.
- Adhere to assigned schedule to ensure Related Service Provider (RSP) minutes are being met as outlined in the IEP/Treatment Plan.
- Collect and document objective data regarding student performance and progress toward goals.
- Monitor student responses to intervention and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Participate in behavioral support strategies and crisis prevention approaches as directed by the educational team.
- Promote carryover of therapeutic strategies within the classroom and other school settings.
Requirements (Education/Certification/Experience):
- Minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current Colorado Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license in good standing.
- Current certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- One (1) year or more of experience providing occupational therapy services in a school, pediatric, or developmental disability setting preferred.
- Experience participating in interdisciplinary educational teams preferred.
- Experience implementing positive behavior support strategies preferred.
This is a full-time, salaried position. The schedule is 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
COMPENSATION
Annual Salary: $57,000 - $66,785 (based upon years of experience in the field)
