Teacher Assistant- Join Our Christ-Centered Educational Ministry
Grace Lutheran School is seeking a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant who has a passion for working with children and supporting Christian education. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to serve in a Lutheran school environment where faith and learning are integrated each day. The Teacher Assistant will work alongside classroom teachers to create a nurturing, Christ-centered atmosphere that supports students spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Position Summary
The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting classroom instruction and helping students grow in their knowledge of God's love while developing essential academic and social skills. The successful candidate will assist teachers with daily classroom activities, provide individualized support to students, and contribute to a positive learning environment that reflects Christian values and Lutheran teachings.
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities.
- Support students in academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
- Reinforce classroom instruction through small-group and individual assistance.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Prepare instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom resources.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch periods, field trips, and special events as assigned.
- Encourage positive Christian behavior and model Christ-like attitudes and interactions.
- Assist with classroom management through positive reinforcement and age-appropriate guidance.
- Support students with varying learning needs and abilities.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families to promote student success.
- Participate in school activities, chapel services, and other events that support the mission of the school.
Qualifications
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a willingness to support the mission and teachings of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
- A love for working with children and helping them grow academically and spiritually.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a Christian educational team.
- Prior experience working with children in a school, childcare, preschool, or related setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and effective classroom practices is beneficial.
- Experience in a Lutheran school or Christian educational environment is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
