Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) to lead and manage surveying operations while supporting structural and civil engineering projects throughout Texas. This leadership role combines field surveying, office production, project management, and departmental oversight. The ideal candidate is a licensed Texas RPLS with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience delivering accurate, high-quality surveying services.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the surveying department.
Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction layout surveys.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise field crews and survey technicians.
Collect, analyze, and verify field data for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare survey plats, maps, legal descriptions, and survey reports.
Review survey deliverables to ensure compliance with state regulations and company quality standards.
Operate and oversee the use of GPS, total stations, data collectors, and other survey equipment.
Utilize CAD software to prepare and review survey drawings.
Coordinate with engineers, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies throughout project execution.
Interpret deeds, legal descriptions, title commitments, easements, and survey records.
Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable surveying standards.
Mentor and develop survey staff while promoting a strong culture of safety and quality.
Travel to project sites as needed throughout Texas.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) license in Texas, or ability to obtain Texas licensure within a defined timeframe.
Experience managing surveying projects and leading survey personnel.
Strong knowledge of:
Boundary Surveys
Topographic Surveys
Construction Layout
Engineering Design Surveys
Proficiency with GPS, Total Stations, Data Collectors, and modern surveying equipment.
Experience using CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar).
Ability to interpret legal descriptions, plats, deeds, and survey records.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with GIS software.
FAA Part 107 Drone License or drone surveying experience.
Experience supporting structural or civil engineering projects.
