Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patients’ health status by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a comforting environment for residents or clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Assist with transportation needs within the community or home for appointments or errands, ensuring client safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and respond appropriately to their needs.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and patient monitoring.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; ongoing training in dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care or hospice care is a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation of care activities.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and manual handling tasks required for patient transfers.
