Companion / Patient Sitter – Elderly Home Care (No CNA Required)Position Summary
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and compassionate Companion/Patient Sitter to provide non-medical supervision and companionship for elderly clients living at home. The Companion/Sitter promotes client safety, reduces social isolation, and provides assistance with routine daily activities while maintaining a comfortable and supportive environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
- Supervise clients to ensure safety and prevent falls.
- Observe and report any changes in the client's condition or behavior to the agency or designated family member.
- Provide medication reminders (no medication administration).
- Prepare light meals and encourage proper nutrition and hydration.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization of the client's living area.
- Accompany clients on walks, appointments, errands, or recreational activities as authorized.
- Assist with shopping and other non-medical errands.
- Encourage participation in hobbies, games, reading, and social activities.
- Assist with reminders for appointments and daily routines.
- Maintain accurate daily activity logs and documentation.
- Treat all clients with dignity, patience, respect, and compassion.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous caregiving, companion care, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently.
- Reliable transportation preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and any required screenings.
- Dependable attendance and professional demeanor.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform light household tasks.
- Ability to assist with routine activities that do not require hands-on personal care or skilled nursing services.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations by contacting family members or emergency personnel.
Work Environment
Services are provided in the client's residence. This position is strictly non-medical and does not include skilled nursing services or hands-on personal care requiring CNA or nursing licensure unless specifically permitted by applicable law and agency policy.
