HVAC Crew Lead
Position Type: Full-time, hourly position eligible for overtime. In addition, you will be eligible for performance bonuses.
Compensation: $35 - $50 per hour, plus potential for performance bonuses (Approximately $800 per week)
Job Summary:
The HVAC Crew Lead is responsible for leading a crew of one to two HVAC installers and ensuring that installation projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. They provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to the installation crew while actively participating in all aspects of the installation process.
The HVAC Crew Lead is responsible for organizing work on the jobsite, coordinating installation activities, and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable Connecticut codes. This position oversees the installation of residential HVAC systems including air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-split systems, hybrid heating systems, boilers, furnaces, central air conditioning systems, standard and heat pump water heaters, and related HVAC technologies.

- Supervision and Coordination:
- Lead a crew of one to two HVAC installers in the installation of residential HVAC systems and related technologies, including air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-split systems, hybrid heating systems, boilers, furnaces, central air conditioning systems, standard and heat pump water heaters, and related accessories in customers' homes.
- Coordinate workflow, assign installation tasks, and ensure project timelines are met.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, on-the-job training, guidance, and support to crew members as needed.
- Maintain responsibility for the quality, safety, and completion of each installation while reporting any jobsite or employee concerns to management.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect completed HVAC installations and related technologies to ensure they meet company quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable Connecticut codes.
- Identify and address any deficiencies or issues in the installation process.
- Conduct regular quality control checks throughout the project to maintain consistency and excellence in workmanship.
- Safety Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Conduct safety briefings to promote awareness and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Take proactive measures to mitigate potential hazards and address any safety concerns that arise during the project.
- Customer Relations:
- Communicate with customers to understand project requirements and expectations.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent service.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Connecticut S-2 Journeyperson License required.
- EPA Certification required.
- Minimum five (5) years of residential HVAC installation experience.
- Demonstrated experience installing air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-split systems, hybrid heating systems, boilers, furnaces, central air conditioning systems, standard and heat pump water heaters.
- Experience leading installation crews preferred.
- Strong time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to construction work.
- Requires proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This is a supervisory role that may include overseeing and managing a team or department.
Work Environment:
- Customer settings: This position is based in customer settings and will require work in and out of doors, including in attics, basements, small-confined spaces, and rooftops.
- Warehouse Environment: This position is based in a warehouse, which serves as a base for many of our operations and includes equipment and material storage areas.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, crawl, or kneel in confined spaces. The employee may be required to lift up to 60 pounds, and must be able to climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, stand on roofs, and move up and down stairs safely.
- This job may require travel in a personal or company-provided vehicle.
