Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, fryers, mixers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to uphold food safety standards and sanitation regulations
- Support the kitchen team by coordinating communication with other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Follow food handling procedures diligently to ensure safety standards are met at all times
- Assist with menu planning and ingredient inventory management to support consistent quality and freshness
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or culinary environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dietary department practices or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to handle food safely and adhere to food safety management protocols
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for efficient food prep
- Experience operating various kitchen equipment with attention to safety standards in production
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Catering experience or background in the food industry is advantageous but not required
