At Homeward Bound, Float Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) help empower people with developmental and physical disabilities to live full, dignified, and enriching lives. Float DSPs train and support across multiple residential homes, building strong relationships with both the individuals we serve and the staff teams you’ll work alongside.
Full Time Schedules Available:
This full-time position is 40 hours per week (overtime available!). Regular schedules will be assigned within one of these employee schedule availability options:
- Day/Evening Float: 7:00am-11:00pm, either Sunday-Wednesday, Wednesday-Saturday, or Friday-Sunday.
What You’ll Do:
- Support individuals in daily living skills such as meal preparation, hygiene, dressing, and community activities.
- Ensure the health and safety of the people served, including administering medications and monitoring health needs.
- Provide life-enriching experiences such as outings, celebrations, and activities that promote independence and joy.
- Mentor and train staff while maintaining flexibility to float between different group home locations.

Requirements:
- One year of experience working in group homes or similar settings supporting individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to accurately count money.
- Must pass a MN Dept of Human Services Background Study.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and meal preparation for both female and male residents.
- Familiarity with health monitoring techniques including vital signs.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to empowering clients and respecting their dignity.
