NOTE: This is not an entry-level restaurant position. Applicants without previous restaurant service experience should not apply.
Position Overview
Parlour Wine Bar & Eatery is seeking an experienced Server Assistant / Busser / Food Runner to join our front-of-house team.
This is a fine-dining service position requiring previous restaurant experience, strong attention to detail, urgency, professionalism, and an understanding of elevated guest service.
Previous upscale or fine-dining restaurant experience is required. Please do not apply if you do not have prior restaurant service experience.
Our Server Assistants are an essential part of the service team and work closely with servers, bartenders, the kitchen, management, and our Sommelier to ensure every table receives polished, attentive, and seamless service.
We are looking for someone who notices the details before being asked, moves with purpose, understands proper table maintenance, and takes pride in creating an exceptional guest experience.
ResponsibilitiesServer & Dining Room Support
- Assist servers throughout all stages of service
- Maintain tables throughout the guest experience, not simply after guests leave
- Clear and reset tables quickly, quietly, and professionally
- Pre-bus tables and remove finished plates, glassware, and silverware appropriately
- Refill water and anticipate guest needs throughout service
- Maintain proper table settings and replace silverware between courses when necessary
- Keep tables, chairs, floors, and surrounding areas clean and presentation-ready
- Assist with bread, water, and other table service as directed
- Communicate table status and guest needs to servers and management
Food Running
- Run food promptly from the kitchen to the correct table and position
- Understand table numbers, seat positions, and proper food delivery standards
- Present dishes professionally and accurately
- Verify plates are clean and properly presented before leaving the kitchen
- Communicate allergies, modifications, missing items, or service issues immediately
- Assist the kitchen and service team in maintaining proper pacing between courses
Wine & Beverage Support
- Polish and maintain wine glasses to fine-dining presentation standards
- Handle glassware carefully and correctly without touching rims or bowls
- Assist with stocking and organizing wine service areas
- Assist the Sommelier with wine cellar organization and stocking as directed
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service stations
- Support bartenders and servers with beverage service when needed
Cleanliness & Organization
- Maintain exceptionally clean and organized service stations throughout the shift
- Sweep, vacuum, and maintain dining room floors as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of guest-facing areas and restrooms
- Remove trash, recycling, and used service items promptly
- Complete opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities thoroughly
- Follow all sanitation, food safety, and health department standards
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Previous restaurant experience
- Fine-dining, upscale dining, wine bar, or chef-driven restaurant experience strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to move quickly while remaining composed and polished
- Ability to anticipate guest and server needs without constantly being directed
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to lift approximately 40 pounds and remain on your feet throughout the shift
- Reliable transportation
- Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Understands the difference between simply clearing tables and providing true service support
- Notices fingerprints, empty water glasses, misplaced silverware, crumbs, dirty plates, and other small details
- Moves with urgency without appearing rushed
- Takes direction well and follows established service standards
- Understands proper etiquette when clearing, resetting, and approaching a guest's table
- Works proactively rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done
- Takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and presentation
- Maintains a professional and positive attitude during busy services
- Understands that every member of the team contributes to the guest experience
Schedule
Parlour Wine Bar & Eatery is open seven days a week from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday - Thurs. And 4:30pm - 10:00pm on Friday & Saturdays
Schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, private events, and wine dinners.
