The Good Part Perspective (TGPP) is a nonprofit youth development organization serving school-age youth across the Inland Empire. We are seeking Youth Engagement Specialists to facilitate programming within the Inland Empire for the 2026–2027 school year. Specialists are paid per hour for 3-hour facilitated session blocks and may be assigned to one or more of the following tracks: Academic Support, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), or Sports and Recreation.
ABOUT THE GOOD PART PERSPECTIVE
TGPP delivers Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P) services rooted in Positive Youth Development (PYD), trauma-informed care, and evidence-based SEL frameworks. Our programs meet young people where they are and give them tools to build toward who they can become.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Youth Engagement Specialists are TGPP’s primary facilitators — the face of our programming at every school site. This is a single unified role with three facilitation tracks. Upon onboarding, each specialist is assigned to one or more tracks based on qualifications and site needs. We are looking for individuals who can build genuine relationships with young people, hold space with intention, and show up as consistent, trustworthy adults in students’ lives.
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
- Pay rate: $33 - $40 per hour
- Session length: 3 hours per session
- Service period: 32-week school year program calendar (2026–2027)
- Student range – Middle and High School
FACILITATION TRACK 1: ACADEMIC SUPPORT
Academic Support Specialists facilitate 3-hour enrichment sessions for middle school students in English Language Arts, mathematics, and study skills.
- Reinforce classroom learning through engaging, hands-on activities (e.g., math games, reading circles, Yahtzee for probability)
- Differentiate instruction to meet students at multiple academic levels within the same group
- Support homework completion and connect in-session activities to grade-level standards
- Maintain a structured, low-barrier environment where students feel safe to engage academically
- Track student participation and submit session documentation accurately and on schedule
FACILITATION TRACK 2: SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)
SEL Specialists deliver structured sessions using evidence-based frameworks.
- Facilitate and lead SEL sessions on topics such as identity, emotional regulation, decision-making, healthy relationships, and self-worth
- Create and maintain a Safe Space environment consistent with One Circle Foundation standards
- Apply trauma-informed facilitation with attention to student regulation and appropriate de-escalation
- Facilitate interactive activities
- Administer pre/post session check-ins and document engagement data
- Model healthy communication, vulnerability, and accountability in every session
FACILITATION TRACK 3: SPORTS AND RECREATION
Sports Specialists plan and lead structured sports and physical activity sessions aligned with TGPP’s youth development goals.
- Facilitate skill-building and team-based activities across sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, flag football, and fitness circuits
- Integrate SEL concepts into sports programming including sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and growth mindset
- Manage student behavior and group dynamics in high-energy environments
- Enforce safety protocols during all outdoor and physical activity
- Adapt activities to accommodate mixed skill levels while maintaining engagement and inclusion
- Document session participation and report on student engagement metrics
RESPONSIBILITIES — ALL TRACKS
- Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to facilitate with energy, materials, and a clear session plan
- Maintain professional conduct in alignment with TGPP policies including Mandated Reporter obligations and Abuse and Molestation Prevention standards
- Complete and submit required session documentation (attendance, incident reports, participation logs) accurately and on schedule
- Communicate proactively with TGPP’s Program Director regarding student concerns, scheduling conflicts, or site-level issues
- Participate in required TGPP onboarding, training, and professional development sessions
- Serve as a Trusted Messenger — someone students recognize as genuinely invested in their growth
- Uphold confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with TGPP data protection policies
- Collaborate with school site staff to maintain a cohesive, supportive program environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS — ALL TRACKS
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, Kinesiology, or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working directly with school-age youth in an educational, community, or program setting
- Must pass Live Scan background check (DOJ/FBI fingerprinting)
- Current Mandated Reporter certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring
- Reliable transportation to assigned school site(s)
- Must be 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States
- Demonstrated ability to manage student behavior and maintain group safety in an school setting
- Comfortable with documenting attendance, submitting reports, and using basic digital platforms for session tracking
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BY TRACK
(Bilingual is a plus for all tracks)
Academic Support:
- Experience tutoring or supporting students in ELA, math, or study skills
- Familiarity with PBIS Tier 1 strategies and differentiated instruction
- Experience facilitating small group learning with students across multiple grade or skill levels
Social-Emotional Learning:
- Certification or training in SEL facilitation strongly preferred
- Lived experience or professional background working with youth navigating trauma, foster care, probation, or other high-need circumstances
- Demonstrated ability to hold space for difficult conversations with calm, authenticity, and appropriate boundaries
- Comfort facilitating in circle-based or restorative formats
Sports and Recreation:
- Experience coaching, officiating, or leading structured physical activity for youth
- Background in one or more of the following: basketball, soccer, volleyball, flag football, fitness instruction
- Ability to integrate character development and SEL themes into sports-based programming
- Knowledge of safety protocols for outdoor physical education and recreational settings
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be able to meet the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to stand, move, and engage actively throughout 3-hour facilitation sessions
- Sports track: ability to demonstrate physical activity, run, and work safely in outdoor or gymnasium settings
- Ability to work safely around youth on school campuses during transitions and outdoor activities
