Duties
- Safely operate transit vehicles such as buses, motor coaches, shuttle vans, and paratransit vehicles on assigned routes, adhering to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical soundness and compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, providing passenger safety and special needs assistance when necessary.
- Navigate city streets efficiently using proper route knowledge and traffic law compliance to ensure timely service.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch via two-way radios for driver updates, route changes, or emergency situations.
- Follow all safety protocols during adverse weather conditions or challenging traffic scenarios to ensure passenger safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements such as air brake and passenger transport. May offer training to get a CDL
- Proven experience in bus driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driving; experience with school bus driving or limousine service is a plus.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, city street navigation, and transportation safety regulations including DOT and state transportation rules.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with passengers and team members using two-way radios or other communication devices.
- Ability to operate in adverse weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
- Demonstrated defensive driving skills and commitment to passenger safety at all times.
- Prior experience with passenger assistance or special needs passenger support preferred.

Pay: $23.83 - $24.97 per hour
