Bray Moore Knicely PLLC is seeking an associate attorney with at least two years of litigation experience to handle civil litigation matters in General District Court, with some related Circuit Court work as needed.
This position is ideal for an attorney who is comfortable appearing in court, communicating directly with clients, managing deadlines, and moving cases efficiently from intake through resolution. The role will focus primarily on practical civil litigation, including warrant in debt matters, collections, unlawful detainers, and related real estate litigation.
This is also an excellent opportunity for an attorney with an entrepreneurial spirit who wants to help grow a litigation practice, develop long-term client relationships, and build a book of business over time.
Responsibilities
The associate attorney will be expected to:
· Handle General District Court litigation from intake through trial.
· Appear in court for returns, motions, contested hearings, and trials.
· Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, settlement agreements, and court filings.
· Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and witnesses.
· Evaluate claims, defenses, damages, settlement posture, and litigation strategy.
· Manage litigation deadlines and maintain organized case files.
· Assist with Circuit Court matters when needed, including appeals from General District Court.
· Assist clients in transactional matters, including drafting of contracts and estate plans.
· Work collaboratively with firm attorneys and staff to provide responsive, practical, high-quality legal service.
· Participate in business development efforts and help expand the firm’s litigation practice.
Applicants should have:
· Active Virginia Bar license in good standing.
· At least two years of litigation experience.
· Experience appearing in Virginia General District Court.
· Strong writing, analysis, and oral advocacy skills.
· Comfort handling hearings and trials independently.
· Familiarity with Virginia civil procedure and rules of evidence.
· Good judgment, professionalism, and a client-service mindset.
· Ability to manage multiple matters without sacrificing attention to detail.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
