A Custodian, is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of a building, classrooms and the surrounding grounds. Their duties include vacuuming floors, sanitizing restroom facilities and collecting trash to ensure the building’s occupants have a clean space.
Custodian Responsibilities:
· Cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming floors
· Sanitizing: Wiping down and sanitizing surfaces
· Restrooms: Cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms
· Trash: Removing waste and emptying trash
· Maintenance: Performing minor maintenance on equipment and fixtures
· Organization: Organizing janitorial storage areas
· Safety: Notifying supervisors about unsafe conditions or concerning the need for repairs or maintenance
· Security: In some cases, they will also carry out maintenance and security duties
· Being respectful to children and families while in the building
Custodian Qualifications:
· Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
· Ability to lift and move 20lbs or heavier
· Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools
· Time-management and multitasking abilities
· Physical strength and stamina
· Organizational skills
· Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
Custodian Education & Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED
· Must be able to pass a BCI and FBI check
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
